San Ramon is cloud forest territory and this area is a perfect mix of bright sun, then clouds rolling into mist – almost 50/50 each day.  You will see both in the photos.  This allows for a mix of tropical plants and birds that will delight you year round.  Rainy season is from April- October, but expect morning mist and possible storms year round.  Temperatures in this part of San Ramon are quite steady at mid-70s year round.

The Neighborhood

This neighborhood of Zuniga de San Ramon is a mix of everything and everyone, though mostly still Nationals: farmers who have lived here for generations (dairy, coffee, lettuce), and some new blue collar Costa Rican families who are moving into the small developments along the public roads.  Then there are a few expats who love space and quiet, and the ‘almost’ remoteness, yet easy access to San Ramon central.  It is also just about as pretty as you can get with black dirt lettuce fields as you walk, drive or ride your horses around.

The Amenities

The house is just a few minutes from the main road into San Ramon city which has everything from Universities to a major Hospital to the weekend Farmers Market.  Within walking distance there is a local pulperia to get daily staples like fresh bread, eggs, tortillas, cheese, milk and of course beer and coffee.  There is a local elementary school, a Catholic Church at the cruce from the main road, several soccer fields, and a little river park in walking distance from the house.

The Lifestyle

Laidback, farm and horse country, bird watching, writers, kids run and play, close enough to town but far enough away, friends will come visit but won’t stop by all the time, private, cozy, natural, fresh, organic, great for hobbies, pick a project, decent internet believe it or not!, string lights out back with a fire pit and a few guitars with good friends and some neighbors for a BBQ…  don’t forget the Pilsen 😉
